Dr. Jenny Dunn
Veterinarian
Hi, my name is Dr. Dunn, and I am a Veterinarian at Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I play soccer in two divisions and love trying new restaurants. In the summer you will find me spending time on the lake, and in the winter I enjoy snowboarding.
Favorite Part of My Job
My favourite part of my job is getting to know clients on a personal level and caring for their animals in a place where they feel most comfortable. I also have a particular passion for surgery, which is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
Why I Chose This Profession
I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in health care, and I have had a strong affinity for animals for as long as I can remember. Veterinary medicine was a natural choice that brought both of those passions together.
Education
I completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Animal Biology and a Master of Science in Population Medicine at the University of Guelph. I then earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University College Dublin.
Professional Background
I have been an accredited veterinarian with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) since 2023. I also have a background in research, with two first-author papers from my master's studies and several co-authorships stemming from my work in epidemiology.
Memberships
I currently serve as Vice President of the North Okanagan Veterinary Association.
Work History
Before joining Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital, I spent three years working as a mixed animal veterinarian, caring for a wide range of species and building a strong, well-rounded clinical foundation.
